The Chinese Communist Party is responsible in regulating the municipal government including issuing administrative orders, collecting taxes as well as managing the economy. The People’s Congress of Beijing city acts as the local government of Beijing city. The People’s Congress of Beijing city together with their Standing committee has formed the authority of Beijing city. The constituency will have the opportunity to elect area and district people’s representative, whereas the district people’s representative will be responsible in electing city people’s representative. Then, People’s Congress Standing Committee as well as the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be selected among city’s people representatives.  Each session of Congress will service for 5 years. Almost all important national governmental and political institutions have their offices in Beijing. The National People’s Congress is also taking place in Beijing.
