Bangchui Island is located about 9 kilometers from downtown at the eastern part of Binhai Road. The scenic area is surrounded by mountain from three faced with a broad beach at the south. About 500 meters away from the beach, there is a small island which looks like bangchui, a tool that commonly used by the local ladies to assist in washing their cloth and thus, the island was named as Bangchui Island. This island is well known for its sands, beaches, islands and at the same time added with the mountain at the back. All these elements have ensured the surrounding to be picturesque and popular as a retreat center for the leaders of People’s Republic of China.
