Big Banyan Tree is located about six kilometers from Yangshuo Town. This ancient banyan tree was planted here within the reign of Sui Dynasty (581 to 618) and survived from winds and rains over the centuries. Moreover, it had been used as one of the movie shooting site for Liu Sanjie, one of the well known Chinese movies. As a result, a beautiful love story has then been added onto this mythical old tree.
The tree with 7 meters width and about 17 meters high has experienced extensive growth over the years. The branches and leaves are still stretched out lushly although the stems are old. You may find that the sunshine is hardly to penetrate its shadow when you take a closer look.
