At the northwestern part of Qinghai Lake, two islands with different sizes and shapes can be found where one on the east and the other one on west which both lies by the lake side. When you see from afar, these two islands look like twin sisters that accompanying each other. These two islands are named as Bird Island.
Actually, Bird Island is not the original name for neither one of the island but they were given the name as the islands are well known for the huge numbers of seasonal birds. In fact, the island on the west is named as Haixishan (Sea West Hill) or sometimes named as Dandao (Egg Island); while the island on the east is called Haixipi (Sea West Skin). Various species of birds can be found here which might reach the amount of over 90000. Especially in the spring season, seasonal birds will occupy almost the whole island with bird nests everywhere. So, if you are bird lover, then visiting the island would be the best destination for you.
