After experiencing four years of preparation work, the China Printing Museum was opened in June of 1996. Anyway, a series of renovation work has been taken place and result in the total construction area of China Printing Museum to reach 8100 square meters. There are four exhibition halls here which consist of Source and Origin Hall, Modern Technology Hall, Printing Facilities Hall and General Hall. Meanwhile, there are also some specified printing displays such as the Printing at Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan; Money Printing, Stamp Printing, Printing Technology of European countries in the history and etc. This is the largest museum worldwide which specifies in printing technology.
1. Source and Origin Hall
Source and Origin Hall is located on the second floor of the museum and covers an area of 800 square meters. The history of the printing methods of ancient China as well as the development of the printing technique has been explained through pictures, texts, artifacts and models. The story of the source of printing techniques has begun from 4000 B.C. until 6th century. While the creation of printing methods, development and expand of the technique is stated from early 7th century until 1911.

2. Modern Technology Hall
The Modern Technology Hall is located at the first floor of the museum with area of 800 square meters. Exhibition boards and printing artifacts have been used to explain the story of the integration process of Chinese and western printing technologies, the development history of printing methods in new China as well as some old printing machines which can still functioning well in printing.

3. Printing Facilities Hall
The newly built printing Facilities Hall is located at the basement level of the museum. The hall exhibits all the machines of pre-printing, printing and post-printing facilities from 1865 until 90s of 20th century. Most of the machines are donated by both local and international printing industries. Some of the machines are rarely seen as they are already outdated and is inefficient to use nowadays.

4. General Hall
General Hall is located on the ground floor of the museum. This is the venue which allows printing companies and printing research center to set their own exhibition counter. Besides that, there are special counters which display many unique printing matters as well. In the middle of the hall, stands the bronze sculpture of Bi Sheng, the founder of movable printing type.
