As ancient town which was built within the reign of Emperor Zhenzong (998 to 1004) of Song Dynasty, Ciqikou Ancient Town has witness the raise and falls of many dynasties throughout the history of China. It was just a small village at the beginning but in Ming Dynasty, it had gained the prominence as a commercial port and market town that shipping goods both by land and water. It was named as Longyin Town (Hidden Dragon Town) during the ancient period. Since it is well known for the production of the Chinese Blue-and-White porcelain, it was named as Ciqikou (The Port of Porcelain) during the early age of Qing Dynasty.
When you are here, you can take the opportunity to take a stroll through the steep and narrow pedestrian streets along Ciqikou Ancient Town. There are many shops that sell porcelain, local handicrafts, souvenirs as well as restaurants and tea shops along the way. You can do a little shopping here especially for those who love the Chinese traditional handicrafts and porcelains.
