Confucius Temple, Confucius Family Mansion and Confucius Family Graveyard are located in Qufu City, Shandong Province. The compound is the only largest building includes both the Confucius family mansion and Confucius family graveyard in China at present.

Confucius (551B.C.-419B.C.) is the founder of Confucianism. In the second year after he died, his mansion was reconstructed into the Confucius Temple. After Han Dynasty, many emperors advocated esteem to Confucius and study of his books. Simultaneously, they ordered to enlarge the scale of Confucius Temple. Therefore, the temple became larger and larger.

The Confucius Temple covers an area of 9.6 million square meters. It has 466 pavilions, halls, doors and ornamental archways with an construction area over 16,000 square meters. They were built in Jin, Yuan, Ming, Qing and other various dynasties.

The Qufu Confucius Temple, Beijing Forbidden City as well as Chengde Summer Resort are called Chinese Three Big Construction Compound. The Confucius Temple was inscribed in the list of world heritage by UNESCO in 1994.
