As one of the three must visit spots in Jinan, Daming Lake which situated at the center of Jinan city is ever ready to welcome its guest from all around the world. Daming Lake is a natural formed lake which consists of many springs and the most unique characteristic of the Lake is the constant level of the lake which never affected by heavy rains or drought.
Covering an area of 860000 square meters with water surface of over 460000 square meters, the lake is absolutely a great place for retreat. There are six islands that formed within the lake which enable to lake to be dotted with green plants and colorful flora. Especially in the hot summer, the bloom of lotuses will bring you to a wonderland with its fragrance.
Besides that natural scenery, Tiexuan Temple which located at the northwest bank of the lake is another highlight within the park. The temple was built as a memorial to a minister of Ming Dynasty in year 1792. Uniquely designed in traditional courtyard in square shape, the temple allows you to experience the ambience of standing within an ancient courtyard.
Besides that, Beiji Temple (North Pole Temple) which serves as the largest Taoist Temple in Jinan is located at the northeastern bank of Daming Lake. The temple was primarily built within the reign of Yuan Dynasty but throughout the years, the temple has encountered several times of destruction and reconstruction. The group of architecture includes Bell and Drum Tower, Front and Back Halls and two more rooms. A statue of Zhenwu, a Taoist God as well as 18 statues which each of them represents a divinity is enshrined at the center of Front Hall.
