Located at Chengdu of Sichuan Province, Du Fu Thatched Cottage which turns to be a museum to commemorate Du Fu was the home for this historic poet for about a thousand year ago. It was said that, Du Fu had moved to Sichuan during the winter of year 759 and soon thatched roof cottage has bee built as his residence. He stayed here for almost four years and outcome with over 240 beautiful poems. Nowadays, Du Fu Thatched Cottage is well known as the sacred place of Chinese literature history.
Covering an area of nearly 24 hectares, the Du Fu thatched cottage was designed with Fanan Temple on the east and Plum Garden on the west. The thatched cottage of Du Fu was delicately designed in the typical architecture style of Qing Dynasty. Besides that, the cottage is surrounded by gardens that uniquely designed in traditional Chinese garden as well. The ambience within the thatched cottage is intimate and tranquil. You will be able to see flowing streams, serene garden, interwoven bridges and pavilions, plum trees and bamboos line up accordingly while the ancient architecture dotted in between. Moreover, the garden will be decorated with different blossom of flowers throughout the year. Plum blossom will be the highlight in the spring while the lotus flowers will in turn in the summer. In autumn, the chrysanthemums will add colors to the garden on the other hand. Although there will not be any flower blossoms in the winter, if you visit this cottage in this season, you may spend your time with the man made architecture as well as the picturesque nature surrounding.
