Foshan Liang Garden is previously named as Foshan Liang Family’s Private Residential Garden. In year 1984, the garden was renamed as Foshan Liang Garden. There are many attracting tourist spots within the huge garden.
Liang Garden was built by Liang’s family within the reign of Emperor Jiaqing and Emperor Daoguang within year 1796 to 1850. The construction projects were taken place in several phases before everything was completed. However, the garden was seriously destroyed in the early 1900. Anyway, due to its historical and artistic value, the government of Foshan had poured in a lot of effort to repair the least destroyed Qunxingcaotang, one of the architecture within Liang Garden. Later in 1990, the garden was listed as one of the historical conservation units in year 1990. A large scale of reconstruction and recovery projects had been carried out in year 1994 and over 21000 square meters of garden compound was recovered. Finally, the garden which famous and well known with its beauty was once again frees its smiling face to the public.
Liang Garden can be generally divided into three main sections which are the residential area, ancestor worshipping hall as well as the courtyard garden. In other word, it is a typical design of ancient courtyard which was mainly decorated with many unique stones. According to the records, there were more than 400 pieces of stones displayed at every corner of the garden. The famous spot within Qunxingcaotang is Shiting which well known for a scene that formed by a single piece of stone. Through the arrangement of stones, the unique characteristics of the garden’s owners can be clearly seen.
