Ganhaizi (Dry Sea) is a vast meadow located at the east foot of Yulongxueshan (Jade Dragon Snow Mountain) about 25 kilometers from Lijiang Old Town at an altitude of 3100 meters above sea level. It used to be a highland glacial lake and was formed after the water had dried up.
Strategically located within the superb mountainous area, Dry Sea is the best destination to witness the panoramic view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. From here, the thirteen peaks of the snow mountain which covered by the undefiled white snow that lines from the north of the south looks like a jade dragon in white color that plays mischievously in the blue sky. Besides that, it is not hard for you to discover the main peak of the snow mountain which is in the shape of a fan.
Spring season is the most energetic period throughout the year as the meadow will burst into colorful blooms. Nowadays, cable car service is available for the convenience of visitors to reach the glacial plain to witness the picturesque snowy scenery and take part in skiing activity. Besides being a national forest scenic area, it is also a popular cultural based attraction around this area too. Dry Sea is in fact a highland style natural scenic spot as well as a natural habitat of the wildlife. There are over 300 types of vertebrates within the wildlife conservation area here. The animals that live within the conservation area are included pandas, golden monkeys and wildebeest. Besides that, the residential area of local Zang people within the circled area has on the other hand become another cultural attraction within the park.
