Located in the Bouyei-Miao Autonomous County of Zhenning, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, the 77.8-meter-high and 101.1-meter-wide Huangguoshu Waterfall ranks number one in China. It represents the only world-class waterfall in China.
Huangguoshu Waterfall is a karst waterfall. Corrosion and erosion by water flow has created a 134-meter-long rare waterfall cave in cliffs, and people named it "Water Curtain Cave". In the eleventh year of Emperor Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (1683), Xu Xiake, the greatest geographer, tourist and travelogue writer, accidentally discovered this marvelous spectacle on Baishui River. He was the first person who discovered Huangguoshu Waterfall and recommended it to the world.
There are 18 waterfalls of different sizes and styles around Huangguoshu Waterfall along the Baishui River, known as "Three Ties, Nine Steps and Eighteen Flying Waterfalls". Hence, Huangguoshu is worthy of the name" Land of Waterfalls in China".
