Bazaar is a Uyghur word which means market and trade place. Generally, the traditional bazaar was held only on Sunday but nowadays, it has been divided into two types in which the livestock bazaar is still taken place on every Sunday while the other one which is opened every day.
There are more than 20 large scale bazaars in Kashgar nowadays. Among all, the bazaar which situated on the East Gate of Kashgar City that named International Trade Market of Central and Western Asia is the largest one throughout Northwest China. The market has covered an area of over 40 acres and consists of 21 specialized markets which including 4000 fixed booths and a food street.
There are many interesting goods that you can find here. For tourists who enjoy shopping, you may shop for handicrafts and local specialties as souvenirs. There are art works and handicrafts from nearby countries as well such as the crafts from Pakistan, scarves from Turkey and dried fruits from Saudi Arabia at reasonable price here as well. Perhaps, this is a great place where you may experience the practice system Barter, an ancient peculiar trade form as well.
