Li Garden which located by the shore of Li Lake is one of the listed national 4A Scenic Area as well as one of the Key Conservation Units of Jiangsu Province. Besides that, it is also one of the major spots beside Taihu Lake. The garden has covered an area of 123 Mu with water surface over 40% of the total area. The Li Lake was previously named as Qi Lake and Wuli Lake. It was said that Fan Li the Prime Ministers of Yue Nation within the reign of Spring Autumn State had brought Xishi, one of the four Beauties in ancient China to boat here. Therefore, the lake was renamed on the name of Fanli while the garden was later named after the lake.
The garden is uniquely designed and surrounded by waters on three sides. Artificial rock mountains, hills, ancient Chinese architecture can be found everywhere within the park. The Four Seasons Pavilions which made up of four pavilions – Spring Pavilion, Summer Pavilion, Autumn Pavilion and Winter Pavilion are one of the popular scenic spot within Li Garden. All these four pavilions are designed in similar style but their walls and pillars are painted with flowers of different seasons. Moreover, a unique species of flower is planted besides each pavilion.
