Located at Leshan City of Sichuan Province, Mount Emei or sometimes translated as Emeishan Mountain or Emei Leshan Mountain is the highest of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China. Magnificently stands in the southwestern part of Chengdu Plain, Mount Emei with its winding and gorgeous figure have become one of the most attractive destinations for tourists throughout the world. In addition, it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in year 1996.
Written historical records regarding Mount Emei which dated 2000 years ago had been found. During that time, it was already well known as a Buddhism Cultural destination. The Golden Summit with total height of nearly 3100 meters is the best spot for catching all the picturesque scenes of Mount Emei, including the sunrise, sea of clouds as well as sunset. On the other hand, Wannian Temple which well known for its unique architectural features without beam is the venue where a bronze statue of Buddha enshrined. The bronze statue with 7.85 meters high and weight 62 tons is one of the most important cultural relics of China that casted in year 980 of Song Dynasty.
The Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area which popular for its Giant Buddha, has covered an area of 2.5 square kilometers. The Giant Buddha which was carved on the mountain with 71 meters high is said to be the biggest Buddha statue throughout the world. Besides that, there are more than 90 stone carvings and Buddhist shrines on both sides of the Buddha.
When you are here, you will feel as if entering a wonderland as tree is verdant all year round while the waterfalls are splendid as well. The mountains, rivers, forests as well as the man made architecture have all been integrated together harmoniously. The landscape of the mountain will be varies according to the seasons change. On the other hand, the climate as well as the altitude of the mountain will have effect on the types of trees to be grown too.
