Mount Huangshan which literally means Yellow Mountain is one of the most popular tourist attractions throughout China. Located in the eastern part of Anhui Province, it can be conveniently reach by either train or bus ride from adjacent cities such as Hangzhou and Shanghai. It is absolutely a perfect getaway for visitors who are looking for a destination to experience the natural beauty of China. Yellow Mountain has been listed by UNESCO as an official World Cultural Heritage Site in 1990. Moreover, Huangshan is also known as "The Number One Mountain under Heaven" throughout China with its unique pines, spectacular rocks, sea of clouds and hot springs.
Out of all peaks of Huangshan, the Lotus Peak, Brilliant Top Mountain, and Celestial Capital are the three most popular peak in which all rise over 1800 meters above sea level. Besides that, the mountains are full of massive natural stone columns with deep crevices. Blooming flowers will decorate the slopes in a riot of pastels in spring; the surrounding will be accompanied by a symphony of scents and wildlife followed by the verdant slopes when summer is just around the corner; the autumn will dress the mountains in blazing reds and purples as the maple leaves turn while the winter scene on the mountain features frost, ice and silver branches.
Travelers have been drawn to the mystique of the local mountains throughout the history of China. The inexplicable pines, stone figures, sea of clouds, and hot springs are popularly considered as the four major attractions of Huangshan. However, the area is also overflowing with natural marvels, especially in the following scenic areas: Wenquan (hot spring), Yupinglou (Jade Screen Tower), Xihai (West Sea), Beihai (North Sea), Yungusi (Cloud Valley Temple), and Songguan (Pine Valley Nunnery).
