Ocean Park Hong Kong which covers an area of over 870000 square meters is a mammal park, aquarium as well as animal theme park in Hong Kong. Founded in year 1977 by the former Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Murray MacLehose, the park is located at Wong Chukhang and Nam Longshan at the southern part of Hong Kong Island. Nowadays, Ocean Park with its 35 attractions and rides is welcoming over five million visitors annually. The huge area of the park has been divided into two sections which are the Summit (Headland) and Waterfront (Lowland). These two areas with distance about 1.5 kilometers can be connected with each other via cable car system, shuttle bus or the Ocean Express Train. Meanwhile, visitor is also having the opportunity to take the second longest outdoor escalator of the world when you are here as well.
The theme park is currently offer 19 types of rides including two roller coasters which can keep you shout every now and then. With 842 meters of corkscrews and full 360° rotations to tear through at the speed of a hurricane, one of the roller coasters which named The Dragon is a thrill seekers dream! No one escapes without the fright of their lives! On the other hand, the Mine Train can be considered as the craziest ride of Ocean Park. The train will bring you on the brink with only sea besides and 85 meters height from the ground while hurtle down one slope at breakneck speed. Over half a kilometer of track awaits to take you screaming into the horizon and back!
Besides the rides, the animal exhibits are also the highlights of the Ocean Park. At the HKJC Giant Panda Habitat, you can meet two precious giant pandas: An An and Jia Jia. An An and Jia Jia are extra special as they were given to Hong Kong in 1997 to mark the return of Hong Kong to Chinese sovereignty. On the other hand, the Sea Jelly Spectacular allows visitors to enter an underwater 'garden', where fluorescent sea jellies float serenely overhead. Over 1,000 sea jellies of all sizes, shapes and colors from around the world can be found at Ocean Park! Designed with the latest technology in lighting, music and multimedia special effects, the Sea Jelly Spectacular offers a sensational "undersea" voyage of discovery about these amazing undersea creatures.
