Repulse Bay, one of the most spectacular bays in the region is located at the southern part of in Hong Kong. The origin of the name is based on a 19th century battle in which the British army repulsed attacking pirates. Nowadays, Repulse Bay is a well known luxurious residential area and possesses a relaxed resort-like atmosphere.
The wide, wave-lapped beach which stretches along with clear azure water is popular with locals and visitors alike and great for sandy strolls in the early morning when the sun is up and the sunbathers are out in force, or at sunset when all is at peace. Swimming is obviously popular and the bay is outfitted for safety with shark prevention nets and floating platforms. The beach features a lifeguard clubhouse built in traditional Chinese style. During the summer, lifeguards are on duty as well.
Sea sport activities are just a part of what Repulse Bay can offer. For those who enjoy barbeque, you may find the racks available under the shade near the beach. Moreover, hotels, restaurants, cafes that dotted the area have ensured the destination to become a paradise for vacation. For visitors, you must take some photos with the most significant landmark of Repulse Bay, the lighthouse located near the beachas well as the statue of the Queen of Heaven as well as the God of Mercy (Guanyin) which stand proudly in front of the park.
