Shudu Lake is the largest lake of Shangri-la County, Yunnan Province. Located about 35 kilometers from the center of county, the lake which highly perched at an altitude of 3705 meters above sea level with water surface of reaching 15 square kilometers is well known for its crystal clear water and rich resources of marine life.
Shudu Lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides and the temperature here is very comfortable. When you are here, you will seem to be standing within virgin forest. The huge plain beside Shudu Lake is well known as the grassland where you can find sheep, cattle and their shepherd everywhere especially during spring and summer. While sitting in front of the lake and backing the mountain, having the sheep and cattle dotted the lush green grassland on your sides; this is absolutely the deepest experience of the daily life of all local residences here.
