Singing Sand Ravine, the state 4A beauty spot, is situated in the middle of the Dalate Banner of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia, about 50 kilometers to the south of Baotou. It was assigned as the kinds of natural desert scenic spot and officially opened to the public in January 1984.
Singing Sand Ravine is a perfect scenic spot that famous for its singing sand throughout the world. The ravine is about 110 meters in height and 200 meters in width, with 45 degrees in gradient with crescent topography creates a massive echoing sand wall. It is a marvelous, top-notch natural tourism resource as there is a desert lake about two kilometers from the crescent that echoing the sand wall. Moreover, it is small square sand with high humidity throughout the year. For this reason, it was regarded as the “desert sweet fountain”. There is a higher field at 1486 meters above the sea level about three kilometers to the west of the desert lake. The mysterious phenomenon that the sand can sing attracts the tourists from all over the world to come and enjoy on it.
The splendid scenery of Kobqi Desert, the first desert cable car in the world, the biggest camel group in China and the first class Mongolian minority troupe are all the unique characteristics that you can find at the Singing Sand Ravine. You can take the cable car to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the spot, taking a full glance of the marvelous phenomenon, slide from the top of the desert and dance with the sand, ride on the camel as well as take the desert surfing car to meet the desert in the nearest distance.
