There are many famous squares around Dalian, such as Haizhiyun Square, Xinghai Square, Zhongshan Square, Dalian People’s Square, Youhao Square and Dalian Olympic Square.

1. Haizhiyun Square
Haizhiyun Square is located at the northern gate of Haizhiyun Park with an area of 380000 square meters. There is a huge steel made sculpture with total length of almost 20 meters at the center of the square. Besides that, you will see a manmade waterfall located right in the middle of the square as well.
There are five collections of sculptures within the square that listed as follow:　A Family of Three, shows a family of three members enjoy their vacation by the sea; The Love between Mother and Son, shows a young mother who tying shoelace of her son; Fishing, shows two fishers of nowadays enjoy fishing in their leisure time; Playing chess, shows an old man sitting in front of a half-played chess board; and the fifth sculpture Young Pioneers, that shows a teacher and 9 members of Young Pioneer taking part in the Summer Camp by the sea.

2. Xinghai Square
Xinghai Square which was built in year 1997 is the largest square in city throughout Asia. As one of the project that celebrates the returning of Hong Kong to Mainland China, Xinghai Square has covered an area of over 450000 square meters. The most significant spot of Xinghai Square would be the clock made by white marble at the center of the square. The overall design of Xinghai square is somewhat similar to the design of Temple of Heaven, Beijing. There is a musical fountain which surrounding the square. Moreover, the Xinghai Exhibition Hall is located about 500 meters to the north from the central path of the square.

3. Zhongshan Square
During the conquering period of Tsarist Russia, Zhongshan Square was named as Nikolayev Square and later renamed as Big Square during the conquering period of Japanese. Finally, the square was renamed as Zhongshan Square in commemorate of Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan) after the liberation of People’s Republic of China. The square is in a round shape with diameter of 168 meters. Most of the architecture surrounding the square is built in the early period of last century. Therefore, very strong European architectural style such as Roman, Gothic or Renaissance style of architecture can all be found here. Most of the architecture has been converted into financial and commercial corporations. As a result, the area is also the commercial center of Dalian nowadays.

4. Dalian People's Square
Dalian People's Square is in fact the administrative center of Dalian. The Dalian Government Office is located right to the north of the square while the Police Office and the Court of Dalian are located on east and west of the square. 5. Youhao Square
Youhao Square is highlighted with a huge crystal sphere at the center which is decorated with colorful lights. This huge crystal was lifted by five hands with different skin colors. The story behind this design is the peoples from the five continents of the worlds have worked together to lift this beautiful pearl. When the night falls, the wonderful lights of the huge crystal will attract the eyes of every passerby and this is a best destination for taking photo as well.

6. Dalian Olympic Square
Dalian Olympic Square which was built in year 1999 is a gift to commemorate the 100 years anniversary of Dalian as a city. The huge square has been divided into north and south sections. There is a football court and 12 tennis courts at the southern square. On the other hand, the northern section is decorated with the most significant five rings of Olympic Games as well as a huge musical fountain as well.
