The State Gate is located west of Manzhouli in China on border between Chinese and Russian. The earliest State Gate is constructed in late 1960s. Used to check the train to and from China, this iron and wooden bridge was called “Inspection Bridge” . On the body face to Soviet, it was carved with the slogan “Workers of all countries, unite!” This bridge looked like gate, hence it was called “State Gate”.
On September 9 in 1989, the new State Gate was completed. With 25-meter-long, 8-meter-wide and 12.75-meter-high, its construction area is 789.7 square meters. “People''s Republic of China” is carved on the top of the State Gate. The international railway reaches to Russia under the gate. There is the State Gate of Soviet on the other side not far.
The latest State Gate of fifth generation is 105-meter-long, 46.6-meter-wide and 43.7-meter-high. The total construction area is 6,000 square meters. It was reconstructed in 2007 and completed in 2008. This famous tourist site attracts nearly 200,000 visitors every year.
