The Ta'er Monastery is a famous Tibetan Buddhist Monastery in Qinghai Province. The monastery has just been renovated recently and restoring to its former glory. Built according to the gradient of mountain, the monastery is a wonderful architectural complex that embraces 9300 structures which consists of scripture halls, Buddha halls, lamas’ residential areas and pagodas. Actually, the monastery was primarily built in year 1622 with the Great Hall of Gold Tiles which located at the center of the complex as the core structure of the monastery. Auspicious objects like treasure bottles, gold streamers and gold deer are used to decorate the ridges of the roofs while a statue of Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Yellow Sect of Tibetan Buddhism is placed in the silver pagoda at the center of the hall.
The Gelug monastery and Jakyung Monastery are the two ancient buildings of Ta'er Monastery complex. In 1577, Maitreya Buddha Hall was founded. Later, Panchen Palace, Tsongkhapa Hall, Sutra Hall, and Manjusri Bodhisattva Hall were respectively founded in the following years. Finally, all these structures have therefore formed the Ta'er Monastery nowadays.
