Taipingyang Underwater World which located beneath the Central Radio and TV Tower in Haidian District is a joint venture project between China and Singapore. It is a modernized large scale museum that focuses on exhibiting various types of marine life and at the same time promoting marine knowledge in a more entertaining way. You will be able to witness hundreds of rare freshwater fishes and marine life within this museum.
The total storage of water within Taipingyang Underwater World is reaching 4000 meters cube. The underwater tunnel with total length of 80 meters is the highlight of the museum. There is an automatic walkway which carries visitors along the tunnel and at the same time offers the best view of the aquarium. Visitors do not need to walk within this tunnel. All you need to do is just standing still and look around as much as you can as you will feel as if standing at the bottom of the sea when you find colorful coral reef and swimming shoal around you.
Taipingyang Underwater World is striving to introduce the mysterious underwater world to the public while keep you recharged and enjoying a pleasant day with the marine life. The museum is consisted of several sections, such as Small Ponds Area, Touch Pool Area, Penguin House, Underwater Tunnel, Seal Performance Area, Dancing with Shark Area, Sunken Ships Area, dynamic movie theater, souvenir shops and fast food corner.
You must not miss the performances available here during your visit. Normally, there will be scheduled Mermaid Performance, Penguin Feeding, seal performance and dancing with shark performance daily. The number of performances might be increased during weekend or public holidays.
