Taiqing Palace is a Taoist sacred palace which lies on the southern slopes of Mount Laoshan of Qingdao. It is the largest as well as the oldest existing architecture on the mountain nowadays. Taiqing Palace was constructed in 140 BC within the reign of Western Han Dynasty. The palace had gone through several times of renovations and reconstruction projects throughout the years but the overall structure still remained very typical architectural style of Song Dynasty.
Taiqing Palace is consisted of three halls with a total of 155 rooms all together. Sanguan Hall (Hall of Three Gods) is the hall which enshrined the God of Heaven, the God of Earth and the God of Water. Anyway, the most important actor within this hall is the two winter resisting camellias that grow within the yard. The camellias will flourish the yard in the cold winter for about three months and added the surrounding with an extraordinary view of cold winter for the visitors.
A giant elm which was planted within the reign of Tang Dynasty can be found within the yard of Sanqing Hall. The tangled branches of the elm tree look like a dragon head in which make it an interesting spot within Taiqing Palace. On the other hand, Sanhuang Hall is well known for the cypress tree that planted during the Han Dynasty.
