The China Millennium Monument is the most significant architecture which plays an important role as the great evidence of the passionate Chinese people welcoming millennium and new century. The monument is located right in between of Chinese People’s Revolution Military Museum and the CCTV Tower; with Yuyuantan Park on the north and Beijing West Railway Station on the south. The whole area of the China Millennium Monument reaches 4.5 hectares with the overall construction area of 42000 square kilometers.
Entering The China Millennium Monument via its south gate, you will come to the Shenghuo Plaza (Torch Plaza) which signifies the 9600000 square kilometers of the whole nation. Walking along the staircases within the plaza will then lead you to a 270 meters length bronze pathway. This is not a common pathway but a pathway that records all the development history of human being since the 3 millions years ago until year 2000. The main structure of The China Millennium Monument is made up of two sections, the “Qian” and “Kun”. The “Qian” with the carving of 56 ethnic groups of China is the moving part of the monument which is able to rotate a full round within 2.6 – 55 hours. On the other hand, the “Kun” that is designed with the weight of 3200 tons has broken the World Guinness Records.
