The Geological Museum of China which was founded in year 1916 is the first geological museum in China as well as the largest national based geological museum throughout Asia. It is well known among the geological field worldwide.
The Geological Museum of China has collected over 200000 geological specimens covering all fields of geological studies, including the famous dinosaurs’ fossil series such as fossil of Shantungosaurus Giganteus and Sinosauropteryx; Peking man, Yuanmou Man, Upper Cave Man and some other famous ancient human fossils; and some rare fossils of prehistoric. Moreover, the collections of Geological Museum of China also consists of the world’s largerst “King of Crystal”, fine blue copper, cinnabar, realgar, orpiment, stibnite and other some other mineral specimens.
On top of that, the Geological Museum of China offers unique exhibition display all year round to the public. The exhibition hall has been divided into five halls consisting Earth Hall, Minerals and Rock Hall, Precious Stone Hall, Prehistoric Hall and National Resources Hall. Besides that, the living environment and quality of living for human beings also are included within the displaying contents.
