Biyun-Temple
Introduction

Biyun Temple (Azure Clouds Temple) is located near Fragrant Hills Park in Haidian District. The Temple was first built in 1366,  just before the collapse of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368).

During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), two influential eunuchs expanded the temple in an unsuccessful effort to make the temple their burial ground. In 1748, during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1910), large-scale reconstruction work was completed. The Hall of Arhats was based on a hall of the same name in Jingci Monastery in Hangzhou while the Diamond Throne Pagoda at the rear of the temple was built in 1748.

The temple was renovated in 1954, after having become dilapidated.  A memorial hall to Sun Yat-Sen, China's first post-imperial leader, was built and stores an crystal coffin donated for his burial by the Soviet Union, although by the time the coffin reached China, Sun was already buried in Nanjing
