Qingdao-Laoshan
Introduction

The lofty Mt. Laoshan stands on the Yellow Sea in the east of Qingdao City, Shandong Province. It covers over 400 square kilometers, and is 1,130 meters above sea level. Laoshan is one of the most famous mountains in China.

Many regard Laoshan Mountain as the birthplace of Taoism. This mountain is also famous for its history regarding the Taoist. Some emperors of the Qin Dynasty (221-206BC) and the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) used to visit on Laoshan Mountain to look for immortals. A lot of renowned celebrities once of different dynasties paid visits to Laoshan. Taoism became very popular since the Western Han Dynasty (206BC-8AD). There used to be eight Taoist temples, nine palaces, and 72 small temples at most and more than 1,000 Taoists on the Mountain. However, most of these temples and palaces were destroyed, and the Taiqing Palace is the largest and oldest one among them.

There are four routes to visit Mt. Laoshan: the east route, the south route, the north route and sea route. Laoshan scenic area consists of Jufeng Peak Resort, Dengying Resort, Taiqing Scenic Area, Liuqing Resort, Shangqing Scenic Area, Qipanshi Resort, , North Jiushui River Resort Yangkou Resort and Hualou Resort.
