The No. 1 Bathing Beach is situated on the bank of Huiquan Bay. With 580-meter-long, 40-meter-wide, this beach used to be the largest bathing beach in Asia. Surrounded by mountains in three directions, with the combination of modern high buildings and traditional villas on the bank, the scenery is fantastic.

The beach was first built in 1,901 by the Germans after they invaded Qingdao. The arrangement is not reasonable. As a famous entertainment place in East Asia, it was only open to foreigners at that time. 

In 1984 and 2003, the local government repaired and expanded the place on a large scale. The beach took on a new look: it was enlarged and more public service facilities were constructed. Nowadays, it is an ideal place for relaxation and sightseeing.
