Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, situated on the southern of Yuexiu Park, was constructed between 1929 and 1931, by the people of Guangzhou and overseas Chinese. The purpose is to memory Dr Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of Chinese democratic revolution. The memorial hall and courtyard has an area of 62,000 square meters. It is the largest Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the world.
The designing style belongs to eight-square palatial architecture. A five meters high bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen was set up in 1956 in front of the memorial hall. In 1963, the memorial hall was reconstructed in large extent. Nowadays, it has become an important place for meeting and entertainment.
