National Day of China is celebrated on October 1st every year. 2010 China National day will be the 61 anniversary for the founding of the People's Republic of China.

October 1st 1949 is the founding celebration day of the People's Republic of China. A huge ceremony was held in Tiananmen Square Beijing on that day. There were over 600,000 people participated in the event and chairman Mao, made the announcement to the world on the Tiananmen rostrum that the founding of the People's Republic of China.

A grand celebration including military parade and mass procession will usually be held on the National Day of certain years, such as year of 1999 and 2009.
The National day is a public holiday in China. During the holiday, Beijing, the capital of China, is often decorated in a festive theme especially in Tiananmen Square. Also a variety of organized festivities including fireworks, parade, performances and concerts will be held at open squares, parks, theatres and other venues.
