Shuiguan (Water Pass) Great Wall
The Shuiguan Section of the Great Wall is part of the very famous
Badaling section. Shui means water and Guan means pass. It locked
invaders out by making strategic use of water. That is how it got the
name Shuiguan. First built during the Ming Dynasty, it was important to
military defence in ancient China and also a rare piece of architecture
in the war fields.
Shuiguan Great Wall is quite famous nowadays for the world-famous flying
man, legendary basketball star Michael Jordan¡¯s visit on May 19, 2004.
Itinerary:
Juyongguan-Shuiguan-Badaling Great Wall one day hiking tour
In the morning, our well-trained English-speaking tour guide will pick
you up at your hotel at 9:00 or at 9:30 up to your preference.
Drive to Juyongguan Great Wall in private vehicle.
Hike on the Wall for half and one hours.
Transfer to Shuiguan Great Wall.
Hike for another one hour.
Enjoy a traditional Chinese lunch in a local restaurant.
Drive to the Badaling Great Wall (which is the most famous section of
the Great Wall, well maintained, easy for travelers to walk along the
defensive project of ancient China)
Hike for 1.5 hours.
Transfer back to downtown Beijing.
