Liulichinag Street has its name originated the kilns that had been set up to make glazed tiled and bricks in the 13 th to 17 th centuries when the Yan(1279-1368) and Ming(1368-1644) dynadties had their respective capital built in Beijing. By the time of the mid-18 th century during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynadty(1644-1911), the street,lined with curio,calligraphy and painting stores became prosperous. Busy with cultural activities during the past 200 years,this old street has taken on a completely new look ater reconstruction an looks more splendid.
