China Ethnic Culture Park
China Ethnic Culture Park is located near the Olympic Sports Centre in the northern part of the city of Beijing. The park is a large cultural venue featuring traditional architecture of various ethnic groups, folklore, singing and dancing performances, handicraft works and national food. The park, encompassing 45 hectares (111.2acres), is composed of 37ethnic group villages and some 40 ethnic group scenic spots. These ethnic groups include the Bai, Tibetan, Naxi, Mosu, Dulong and Nu minorities. The China Ethnic Culture Park boasts some large minority- style architecture including the Museum of the Chinese nationalities with an exhibition area of 1,000 aquare metres, the Chinese nationalities Song and Dance Theatre with 800 seats, the Big Fall Square large enough to hold 4,000 people, and the Three-Pagoda Nationalities Get-Together Square large enough to accommodate 6,000 people .In the past few years, the Chin Ethnic Culture Park has played host to the closing ceremony of the Far-East and South Pacific Games for the disabled, the Evening Party of the World Conference of Archives, the closing ceremony of the World Conference of Military Medical Science, the Evening Party of the World Conference of Geology, and some other domestic and international confereces and activities. The Closing Ceremony of the XX UIA Conference was also held here.
China is home to 55 ethnic groups (minority nationalities), and each with a diverse cultural heritage, different customs and costumes, and unique arts and crafts. |
