The Museum of Chinese History
With a floor space of 8,000 square metres, the Museum of Chinese History has permanent exhibitions covering important occasions in Chinese history, a period from 1.7 million years ago in the primitive period down to 1919—the May 4 th Movement . Among the 300,000 precious treasures, the stoneware, bronze works and ancient currencies are the most famous. Many of the 230,000 volumes of books stored here are the only copies in the world. The building was constructed in 1958 and completed in 1959, with a total floor space of 65,000 square metres. It falls into four parts, and we are going to show you the major exhibits. |
