Constructed in the period 1955 to 1957, the 1,670.4-metre-long bridg began revamping on August 12, 2002, which was the first large-scale renovation since it became operational 46 years ago. The rehabilitation project has made the bridge more reliable and able to accommodate an expanding traffic flow.
