Flying Acrobatic Show Beijing
Nearly every major city and province in China has its own acrobatic troupe. From a young age, children are chosen to be trained as performers. Consequently, China has numerous world-class acrobatic troupes. In both major cities of Beijing and Shanghai, it is possible to see breath taking acrobatic shows.

Acrobatics have stemmed from labour and self-defence skills to an entire art form. Chinese acrobatics are an interactive form of performing arts and have become hugely popular across the globe. During the Han Dynasty (221BC – 220 AD) the acrobatics had become sophisticated and things like fire eating, juggling, tight rope walking and knife swallowing had become common features. In the Tang Dynasty (618 – 907) acrobatics were watched by the elite and ruling classes. In the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279), acrobatics were upstaged by opera and started to become an entertainment for the ordinary folks.
I visited the theatre to see the show earlier this week with friends and it was an experience we will never forget.

The Flying Acrobatic Show at Chaoyang Theatre is a mix of electrifying and stunning acts which leave the audience in disbelief. Acts include martial arts, balancing bowls, juggling of porcelain urns, stacked chairs and much more. The show really illustrates the harmonious beauty of the human body but it is also obvious to see pain that the performers must endure in order to reach this exceptional high standard of performance. The girls seem spineless and the men take risks which seem death defying. At many points in the show, we were gasping and left amazed with what we saw.
It is a show not to be missed if you are in Beijing. Chaoyang theatre has received over 3 million worldwide visitors including presidents, high officials and stars. Chaoyang theatre has become an important culture brand of Chaoyang district and it is now known as the place to watch the Acrobatics Show.
Graced by a modern and beautiful entrance, there is time to take pictures and buy snacks before the show starts. The seats are comfortable and there is also an interval in the show.
The Chaoyang Theatre is located within the CBD of Beijing at the East 3rd ring road. It is easy to get to via taxi, subway or bus.
