Beijing Airport

First open in 1958, Beijing Capital International Airport is the most important, largest , best equipped and busiest airport in China. During the past decade, Beijing Capital Airport has ascended in the rankings of the world’s busiest airports. In 2009, Beijing Airport replaced Tokyo to be the busiest airport in Asia in terms of passenger traffic and total traffic movements. There were over 64 million passengers passing through the airport in 2009 and this number ranked as the 3rd busiest airport in the word. Also for the cargo traffic registered over 1.4 million tones, Beijing Capital International Airport has become the 14th busiest airport in the world by cargo traffic in 2009. On the bases of Terminal 1 and 2, Beijing has added the enormous terminal 3 in 2008 before the opening of Olympic Games. Along this large project, Beijing has built a rail link to city center. It is called the airport express which connects all 3 terminals with city center and 2 city subways. Passengers can take the airport express to city center in 30 minutes and can easily transfer to city subway line 10 and 2. The new terminal 3 is also the second largest airport terminal in the world and the third largest building in the world by area.
